The purpose of this website is for the HISTORY 483 Asian Migrations to the Americas class at the University of British Columbia. This Oral History assignment required the students to select someone they knew that had migrated to Canada and was at least one generation older. The intervieweee, Elizabeth Cheung, requested not to be filmed as the topic is highly sensitive to her and she felt that she would not be able to fully explain herself in front of a camera. For the first time in a few years, Elizabeth Cheung recounts her story of how she entered Canada.
